Sodoma Law is a law firm with 6 offices across North Carolina and South Carolina. While our practice area is predominantly family law, over the years, our practice areas have expanded to include trusts and estates, corporate, real estate, business law and more. We are seeking an Experienced Bookkeeper for our Charlotte, North Carolina office who can support our administrative team by managing financial information, overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable, entering payments received, and handling bank reconciliations. Our Bookkeeper is a proactive individual who is comfortable working independently, can manage competing priorities, detail-oriented and has a sense of urgency.

This person is a team player who is committed to honesty, integrity, and supporting the efficient and smooth day-to-day operations of the firm.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Financial Management

  • IOLTA compliance and reporting
  • Deposits
  • Disbursements
  • Reporting
  • Journal Entries
  • Monthly reconciliations

Accounts Payable

  • Pay vendors as needed weekly with reimbursable expenses.
  • Track due dates for vendor invoices.
  • Verify if billable to the client.
  • Obtain W-9 for vendors
  • Create 1099s as needed annually
  • Provide IRS reports as needed
  • Enter courthouse parking, postage, and copy expenses on the invoice.
  • Process expense checks for employee reimbursements.

Accounts Receivable

  • Receive payments confirming proper forms completed.
  • Post payments to the client account in Cosmolex.

Client Invoicing

  • Process checks for filing fees
  • Print Trust report


  • 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience (Within a law firm is a plus)
  • Experience handling multiple business accounts
  • Computer skills: Must be adept in Microsoft Office365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Cosmolex and Trust Accounting for a law firm (Desired but not preferred).
